Forever and Always: A Fairy Tale Love Story That Began in Preschool

Amber and Glen’s wedding was nothing short of a fairy tale – the kind that makes you believe in happily ever afters. How else can you describe a wedding were the couple actually met in preschool and made it all the way to the altar?! They chose the Ashley Castle in Chandler, Arizona as their venue because they felt that it perfectly symbolized their fairy tale love story.

Glen wore midnight blue, a color that he had decided on long before the wedding planning even started, and his groomsmen looked dashing in navy suits, while the bridesmaids wore beautiful cinnamon dresses from David’s Bridal that complemented the fall color palette of the wedding.

As for the bride’s gown, Amber recalls searching high and low - trying on many different styles, eventually changing her mind from the A line style that she originally envisioned, to the dress of her dreams which she found at Wedding Belles in Mesa, Arizona.  The almond-toned dress featured a sweetheart cut, the perfect amount of fluff, and a train with just the right amount of dramatic.

They both recall that one of the most special moments of their wedding day was when Glen saw Amber walking down the aisle. It was a surreal moment for him, and he couldn’t believe his eyes. And when Amber met eyes with Glen as she walked down the aisle and he told her that she looked beautiful, her heart skipped a beat.

Their wedding day was filled with special family traditions, such as a memory table which paid respect to their loved ones who had passed away before witnessing their love. Another tradition that was included was “jumping the broom” as a tribute to their ancestors from the south where legal marriages were forbidden, so their ancestors would include jumping the broom in their ceremonies.

For couples currently planning their weddings, Glen and Amber advise them to “take your time, follow your heart - don’t let everyone opinion cloud your mind. This is your wedding not theirs. Remember to enjoy your wedding and the process! It makes everything better! Be happy. Smile. You got this!”

As photographers we were honored to be a part of their fairy tale. Glen and Amber found us through the Ashley Castle and noted that we were welcoming, and that Jeff had all the jokes, which made them feel at ease. They loved our displayed photo albums and were confident that we were the right photographers for them. Prior to the wedding we worked with them to create a photography timeline to ensure that ensured we captured all of the poses and people they wanted.
